So today we visited Soul Bar in Auckland!

We’ve been in NZ on holiday and doing some promo for MKR as the show is airing here at the moment. Since we arrived, we’ve discovered that the Kiwi’s have just started doing their own NZ version of My Kitchen Rules, which we are super excited about! So today we visited one of the MKR NZ judges restaurants where he is head chef. We met the owner Judith who is absolutely lovely and started herself as an apprentice chef at the age of 16! It’s a gorgeous restaurant overlooking the water on the Viaduct Harbour.


We started with amazing the Citrus cured Ora King Salmon, potato rosti and pickled baby vegetables! So delicious and full over flavour and texture!Salmon

Next Carly had the Agnolotti- house made pasta filled with roasted pumpkin, brown butter and ricotta salata! This had amazing depth of flavour and the pasta was cooked to perfection! Absolutely loved the fried sage!

I (Tresne) had the Grilled Snapper, seared ruby chard, Mooloolaba king prawns, miso butter and seaweed. I can not speak highly enough of this dish, the snapper was probably the best I’ve ever had! I’d never heard of ruby chard but it is like silverbeet but with bright red stalks…amazeballs!


All washed down with a glass of Nautilus Pinot Gris Marlborough 2013

 We will definitely be back!
