So over the weekend we visited Gympie!

I’ve always wanted to visit Gympie due to the fact I grew up with a dog with that exact name, yes my dog was called “Gympie”. He was the sweetest, most lovable, loyal dog that a family could’ve owned. He sadly passed away 4 years ago but the memory of him will be with me forever.

We attended Flavour Festival to help raise money for Kidz Fix. Organised by the amazing Michelle Agnew the event has been running for 9 years now.

We were welcomed to Gympie with open arms and got to meet and be fed by the amazing and resilient Matt Golinski ! We also had the pleasure of meeting the wonder woman Jody Allen from the growingly popular Stay At Home Mum . Check this site out for tips on everything from cleaning tips to relationships.

We flew into Brisbane at 7:30am on Saturday morning to make the 2 hour journey to Gympie just in time to get stared with preparing our first cooking demonstration, Herb Crusted Perch, Warm Chive Potato Salad and a Lemon Caper Butter Sauce.  As Carly and I are now Pescetarian ( vegetarian that eats seafood), this is one of our favourite things to make for dinner. It’s quick and easy and has some beautiful fresh herbs and a gorgeous zingy lemon butter sauce. Yum! Check out our recipes page for the recipe.

We followed with a delicious dessert, Honey Puffs/ Loukoumades (Greek Doughnuts) with a orange and honey syrup to soak them in. This went down a treat, we also added some caster sugar with some ground cinnamon for an alternative.  Amazeballs!

Our experience in Gympie was filled with meeting so many warm hearted and generous people we will definitely be back again next year…..if we are invited lol 😉
