Visiting The Best Dessert Festival in Australia…Sweet Streets!

Where to get the best dessert in Sydney!

Since being fortunate enough to do a few cooking demonstrations at Cake, Bake and Sweets Festival in Sydney this year, we met an amazing Executive Pastry Chef at the amazeballs Shangri La, Sydney, Anna Polyviou. Anna and her gorgeous partner, Casey invited us to be a guest at the best dessert festival in Sydney “Sweet Street”.

The “all things sweet” event had some of the biggest dessert chefs in the business! From the likes of Adriano Zumbo (Zumbo), Kirsten Tibballs (Savour School, Melbourne), Min Chuan Chai (N2 Extreme Gelato), Tim Clark (Cacao Lab, Melbourne),  Bernard Chu (Luxbite, Melbourne) plus the extremely talented organiser of the event Anna Polyviou (Executive Pastry Chef at Shangri La, Sydney).

Where would you hold such an event?….well the Grand Ballroom of the Shangri La, Sydney of course! With it’s gorgeous chandeliers radiating glowing bright pink lights, it certainly set the mood for everything sweet.

I loved the displays and presentation, all the food was so similar to Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, which is one of my favourite childhood movies! We were both in awe by some of the creations, no wonder this event was such a massive success in creating some of the best desserts in Sydney.

Upon arrival we were pleasantly surprised by how many people attended the event, with over 500 tickets sold, Sweet Street was the sweetest place to be! With DJ Broox behind the decks the room was pumping, we arrived just in time for the B-boys and girls to jump on stage to bust some moves! This is the awesomely usual cool atmosphere Anna Polyviou will bring to an event!

Whilst wandering we managed to run into a few of Polyvious’s chef mates, Kirsten Tibballs and Tim Clark, where we fan girl’d to get a quick pic!

Once all the excitement died down and the stalls had sold out of their sweet treats, we decided to start playing with the props….as you do!

And best of all, we got to hang out with some amazing people and eat dessert! Life can’t get much better than that!

Life is great!
